Are you struggling with Magic Loop on small needles? Does your yarn get caught in the cable joins?
As a long-time KnitPro enthusiast, I’ve always loved their sharp tips and beautiful series like Symfonie Wood and Nova Metal. However, when it came to knitting socks or sleeves with fine yarn, I hit a wall.
That’s when I discovered Seeknit (Kinki Amibari). Today, I’m sharing a deep-dive comparison and why the Seeknit Interchangeable Set is a game-changer for small-gauge knitting.
Note: While the official product name is spelled “Symfonie,” it is also frequently referred to or searched as “Symphony” within the knitting community.
KnitPro: What I Love and Where it Falls Short
I still believe KnitPro makes fantastic needles. Their Swivel Cables were a huge improvement, preventing the dreaded cable kinks. But there were a few deal-breakers for my recent projects:
- Visibility Issues: Dark or variegated yarns are hard to see against the patterns of Symfonie Wood.
- Durability of Fine Needles: My Nova Metal needles (3.5mm and under) tend to bend over time.
- The “Gap” in Sizes: KnitPro interchangeable tips start at 3.00mm. If you need a 2.75mm (US 2), you’re out of luck.
- The Join Snag: Even with Swivel cables, fine yarn often catches on the metal join, making Magic Loop frustrating.

Why Seeknit? The Specs Speak for Themselves
Seeknit is a legendary Japanese brand known for high-quality bamboo needles. Here is how they stack up against KnitPro:
Comparison Table: Specs at a Glance
| Feature | KnitPro (Interchangeable) | Seeknit (Interchangeable) |
|---|---|---|
| Smallest Size | 3.00mm | 2.00mm (US 0) — Amazing! |
| Largest Size | 15.00mm | 10.00mm |
| Shortest Length | 40cm (requires short tips) | 23cm (with 5cm tips) |
| Cable Type | Fixed or Swivel | All Swivel (Super Flexible) |
Note: KnitPro tips and cables are universal across series, while Seeknit uses three different screw sizes (M1.8, M2, and M4) to achieve their ultra-fine needle diameters.
Hands-on Review: Seeknit Shirotake/Umber S-Set

I purchased the Seeknit S-Set (10cm tips) which includes 2.5mm, 2.75mm, 3.0mm, and 3.25mm.
The Verdict? Pure Bliss.
I tested the 3.25mm for Magic Loop. While no join is 100% seamless, the Seeknit join is much smoother than KnitPro’s. The cable is thinner and more flexible than KnitPro’s “Neon” or “Swivel” series, meaning the “laddering” at the turn of your Magic Loop is significantly reduced.

If you are tired of struggling with stiff cables or snagging joins, Seeknit is the upgrade you deserve.
